Kia Dominates J.D. Power 2024 APEAL Study with Most Model-Level Awards

Kia America has secured the top spot in the J.D. Power 2024 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study by earning the most model-level awards of any single brand. With five Kia models recognized, this achievement highlights Kia’s strong presence in the automotive industry. The study also positions Kia as the third highest-ranking brand among Mass Market competitors.
For the fourth year in a row, the Kia K5 was named the best Midsize Car. The all-electric Kia EV6 and the Kia Carnival both topped their segments—Compact SUV and Minivan, respectively—for the third consecutive year. The EV9, Kia’s new Upper Midsize SUV, made an impressive debut by securing its first segment award. Additionally, the Kia Forte was named the highest-ranked Compact Car for the second year in a row.
Steven Center, COO & EVP of Kia America, expressed excitement about the brand’s achievements, particularly the consistent recognition of the K5, EV6, Forte, and Carnival. He also noted that the EV9’s success in its first year demonstrates Kia’s dedication to meeting customer needs across a variety of vehicle segments.
The J.D. Power 2024 U.S. APEAL Study is based on feedback from 84,569 owners of new 2024 model-year vehicles, gathered after 90 days of ownership. The survey, conducted between July 2023 and May 2024, reflects the experiences of owners who registered their vehicles between April 2023 and February 2024.
