Learn more about the Kia Smart Key with Remote Start / Remote Smart Parking Assist
Select Kia Vehicles come with a Smart Key.
Not all SMART KEYS are alike… they allow you to LOCK and UNLOCK the doors… UNLOCK the trunk or liftgate…
ACTIVATE a panic alarm…
And they all include a MECHANICAL KEY inside the key fob but some offer additional features.
Select Kia models have REMOTE START via the Smart Key and some have REMOTE SMART PARKING ASSIST or RSPA.
On the backside of the Smart Key, this button is the REMOTE START button…
And, if equipped, these buttons control the REMOTE SMART PARKING ASSIST feature, which can park your vehicle remotely or exit a parking space.
This RSPA button moves the vehicle forward…
And this RSPA button moves the vehicle backward.
For more information on how to operate the Remote Smart Parking Assist, please refer to the appropriate Kia Features and Functions video.
One of the best features of the Smart Key is the ability to remotely start or power on the vehicle
Here’s how you do it:
• First, PRESS this button to LOCK the doors…
• Then, within four seconds, PRESS and HOLD this button for more than two seconds…
And the vehicle will START or POWER on.
• If equipped, keep in mind that on internal combustion vehicles, the engine will only run for ten minutes with no driver interaction. It will then automatically shut off if no action is detected.
And please note that the Smart Key’s signal can be blocked by the normal operation of a smartphone, so, if possible, store each device separately.
• If necessary, you can unlock the driver’s door using the MECHANICAL KEY that is in the Smart Key fob.
• Remove the keyhole cover, then insert the MECHANICAL KEY.
• On some EVs, PRESS the front part of the door handle to reveal the lock…
• While holding it open, INSERT the mechanical key into the lock…
• Turn it to the LEFT to unlock the door…
• Or turn it to the RIGHT to lock the door.
• The location of the key receptacle will vary depending on the model.
• A maximum of two Smart Keys can be registered to a single-vehicle.
• If you lose one of the keys, go to an authorized Kia Dealer to deactivate the old key and activate a new key.
